Characters Strengths are in chronological order: Ex; Achilles is Stronger than Wukong.
Consider this list as a: A, B, C, D, E style list, rather than what Smite Guru suggests.
This list is probably biased in some ways but you did come to hear my own opinion so... It do be like that.
This list is a part of a series of Ranked Joust, if you are interested in different roles, follow these links;

Incredibly strong picks, if you want to win; have your frontline main one of them.
Achilles: Shield can stun and your follow up damage from your 3 can make for a devastating effect, try to dash where the enemy is going to want to run if they are weak, keep them on their toes if they aren't weak enough yet. Coordinated ultimate's with your team can see you getting easy triple executes. Make sure your opponents dash is on cooldown before ulting.
Wukong: Your 1 can put incredible damage on the enemy before striking with your Tiger Form 3 and mauling an opponent, when the stun is about to end, hit them with your 2 and confirm the kill with your 1. Things go wrong, use your ultimate and smash the enemy to bits.
Amaterasu: Use your 1's passive to close the distance and self sustain, charge your 2 to full and then 3 to silence your opponent as a mirror shoots them apart. Your 2 combos well with your ultimate as by the time your ultimate finishes silencing them your mirror will blast. (If not before, watch for the Rectangle indicator in the middle of the cones to know where the mirror is about to shoot)

While still very strong, there is a bit more counter play to be had from the enemies with these.
Odin: Get your shields up and get in there! Use your 2 to shield yourself from damage, if enemies need a lesson from the All Father, dunk on them with your 1 and explode in their faces. (Your 2 does more damage if you keep the shield at full health so if you are being aggro keep this in mind.) Charge your 3 to full and make it stun enemies, when they are out of place ult them and keep them out of place.
Hercules: Make'em fly and drive the game home! Hit'em with your 2 to send them to you, then drive them home with your 1. If things start getting painful, use your 3 and turn it against them. When enemies are weak or corralled together, use your ultimate to roll them over, try to hit more than once by bouncing the boulder off walls for extra damage. (Fighting in Jungle/sides of lane can help you a lot.)
Mulan: Fight to improve and protect all of China! Use your 2 for some extremely deadly attacks and self regen. Use your 1 for when they get too close to punish them and for good damage. Pull them in for a deadly flurry of strikes with your 3, follow this up with your 2 then your 1. If they try to run, make them realize the wrath of China with your ultimate, hit at least one enemy with your dash and they will be rooted, knock them up then shoot them with your bow. (They will not be able to avoid the knock-up, but you need to predict where they will move with the bow attack.) Her ultimate CAN hit enemies through walls if they try to run, but you need to hit with the dash for the actual damage part of her ultimate.

Pretty much just your average fighters, this is the mid tier. Everything below this has a fatal flaw of some sort.
Since this tier is average, just learn to play the Gods at your own pace, I've been at this list for 30 minutes and this is the segment I'm doing last.

You can play these, just not in Ranked please!
Chaac: Instantly countered by anti-heal but if you live in a world where it doesn't exist, you will steamroll.
Vamana: Anti-heal and the good old fashioned walk away maneuver counter you completely.
Nike: Sundering Spear exists.

Avoid this tier entirely!
Horus: His Ultimate has no capability in Joust, while the rest of his kit is fine the ultimate being useless destroys his ranking.
Guan Yu: Simply bad overall
