NOTICE: From a Maui main who started this season, Gold 1 Peak, and number 5 leaderboard Conquest Maui, take this as advice and tips, and not set in stone.
Maui is a difficult, yet rewarding support, able to set up kills with his Hook, Swing, and Island, and able to speed up, give protection, and effectively teleport enemies with his 2, similar to Heimdallr's The Bifrost.
This guide will go over the best ways to take advantage of this kit, maximizing his best scenario's and mitigating his worse matchups.
Section One: When to pick Maui
Maui is great at locking down one or multiple targets, as his 3 (Solar Swing) and 4 (Landfall) both deal area damage. His 1 (Master Fisherman) is great for pulling a god retreating towards him, preventing them from getting far and crippling them for the duration. Maui's passive activates when an enemy god gets Hard CC'd, which a hook will glow above them. Hitting them with a basic attack will grant you a passive, the next time you basic attack, any god hit by it will pull them, forcing their camera to face Maui for a second, similar to a Taunt, before letting them free.
Maui is great on most matchups, as he can simply lock down and set up kills similar to Geb.
Maui can be picked, especially when:
1. Enemy gods that lack CC immune abilities
2. Enemy gods with little to no mobility
3. Lack of cripples and knock ups, as Maui can't escape easily without his 3, and his 1 can be easily cancelled with a knock up
When to NOT pick Maui
1. Gods with cripples, especially supports. (Ares for example)
2. Gods who can immune knock ups, and cleanse allies (Hel, Geb, Ares, ETC)
3. Awilix. Awilix is Maui's biggest counter, as Maui cannot escape reliably when she has Ultimate.
Most of these characters lack CC Immune abilities, as such, Maui can easily pop their beads, letting other teammates stun and set up kills for themselves.
Gods that Maui can reasonably go against. Most have at least one CC Immune ability, and wont need to pop beads always.
Awilix is the worst counter to Maui. She can pull you from your Solar Swing, your main escape and ability dodge.
Ares can chain (cripple) you for 6/8 seconds, Knock up immune with his 3, and Immunes your Ultimate with his Ultimate.
Jing Wei's dash has the unique stat of being able to be used while knocked up for longer distances, which can be used against your Ultimate.
Geb can cleanse allies from your CC, stun and knock up enemies out of your 1, and rotate faster than you.
The rest have 2 or more CC Immune abilities, giving them 3 chances to immune your ability's CC.
Avoid being knocked up by the cat.
Wait for her to use Ultimate BEFORE using 3.
Utilize wards to leave the area early before she rotates to you.
Maui is a standard support build, getting items for both you and your allies.
Sentinel's Gift
PASSIVE - Getting the assist for an enemy minion or jungle monster dying will provide 8 Bonus gold and restore 12 Health and 8 Mana. If you are not within 30 units of an allied god for 20 seconds this passive is disabled until you are near an allied god again. Can be upgraded at level 15.

Using this item Slows the Movement Speed of all enemy gods within 35 units by 30% for 5s. Their Attack Speed is reduced by 25% for the duration. Additionally, their Damage Dealt is reduced by 10%. Cooldown - 130s.
Horn Shard
Your non-ultimate ability cooldowns are reduced by 0.5s every 0.5s for the next 3s. Shard Relics can be upgraded to a new Relic once you reach Level 12. Cooldown - 120s.

This consumable heals 250 Health over 25 seconds.

Horrific Emblem and Heavenly Wings are interchangeable, depending on matchup
(Heavenly Wings for Ares, Horrific Emblem for Everything else/Aphrodite/Anubis)
Prosthetic's Cloak can be put in for Thebes, especially if you like to get poke and chip
Sentinel's Embrace
AURA - You gain 8 GP5 if you have the lowest gold on your team. Evenly split 80 Physical and Magical Protection among all allied gods within 70 units and yourself. If you are alone you only gain 30 Physical and Magical Protections.
Evolved Gauntlet of Thebes
AURA - Allies within 70 units receive 10 Physical Protection and 10 Magical Protection.
Breastplate of Valor
Pestilence (old)
AURA - Enemy gods within 55 units have their healing reduced by 25%. This does not stack with similar Auras.
Ward
This is a ward that allows you to see normal enemy movements with 45 units. It does respect line of sight and can't see through walls or stealth. It remains for 3 minutes or until killed.
Reverent Pridwen
<n>GLYPH - When your Ultimate ability has finished casting, you gain a Shield equal to 225% of your Protections from items and abilities for 5s. When destroyed, by timing out or being depleted, it explodes in a 30 unit radius and deals Magical damage equal to 75% of your Protections from items and abilities and slows targets by 25% for 3s. This can only occur once every 45 seconds.
Heartward Amulet
AURA - Allied gods within 70 units have their Magical Protections increased by 15 and their MP5 increased by 30.
Sovereignty
AURA - Allied gods within 70 units have their Physical Protections increased by 15 and their HP5 increased by 25.

This is a ward that allows you to see normal enemy movements with 45 units. It does respect line of sight and can't see through walls or stealth. It remains for 3 minutes or until killed.

The items between wards are interchangeable, you don't need Pridwin, however building full aura for your teammates keep them alive.
Breastplate of Vigilance Glyph is useful against teams with auto attack, as your ultimate will make it impossible to fight back for them.

Same as above, just with Spectral in the build. Preferably get Breastplate of Determination.
At level 2, your 2 and 3 are interchangeable. 2 if you need protections and speed, and 3 if you need stuns to cancel abilities.
Use your ultimate to block off escapes in the jungle, pull enemies retreating to your team, or to save yourself from Da Ji ultimate or Ares Ultimate, how you would any CC Immune ability.
To maximize your CC, start with your 3, followed by an auto attack to activate passive, and 1 to hold onto a target. Ultimate to either engage this combo, or to secure more time to kill after the combo.
