In general, punish people for using their escape like idiots. Yes, they are idiots, you just have to focus on baiting their jump/dash/escapes for no reason, just walk up to them, wait for 1 or 2 seconds, most of the time they're just gonna use it and they're gonna feel safe andbe like "Ok I jumped out, I'm good, this Arachne's gonna give up". And I think that most people feel that way because 9 times out of ten their opponent is not gonna do anything about it. And you know that they assume you're not gonna keep chasing them, and once they've jumped you'll just have to go ham on them and make them understand "Dude, you don't just use your escape right in front of me and pray you're not gonna get punished, because you are". And what's the most intriguing about it is that sometimes it takes them 3 or 4 times to understand (sometimes the game ends before they even do), and at this point, , they're gonna play nerviously and they can start to make bigger mistakes. That's what feels good about it. The feeling that you've gotten into their mind, and that they have to start focusing on the game and especially on their positioning.
Throughout the game, remember that your Movement Speed is your lifeline. You can zoom in and out of fights with your Shield of Regrowth, you're faster than everyone with your Serrated Edge, Stone Cutting Sword and other items you might have built from the Ancient Blade tree. You have your Web to cleanse slows and prevent anyone on foot to chase you. If someone sees you on the map because you're clearing their minion wave or walking over a ward, you're gonna move through the jungle and encounter them WAY faster than they expect an average opponent to.
You can use your Webs very efficiently in Siege, blocking completely some narrow corridors and thus giving you some visions if someone tries to walk through and attack you from the back. Don't forget that you can have up to 3 Webs at the same time, so don't focus too much on this strategy.
Be careful with all the narrow corridors there are in each team's jungle, in general you are more likely to get hit by things. You still have your Night Crawler to get you out of desperate situations. Coming into the middle, you're gonna be more comfortable with more space to move around. Use the third person perspective to your advantage around the walls to catch people unaware.
Tip at the beginning of the game - As soon as you spawn, buy Ninja Tabi and quickly go to one of the blue buffs, put up a Web but not on top of the minions, just a little bit away. Then you can put your next one on top of the speed buff (or red buff), back, buy your Beads and some Chalices/potions and head back to your speed/red buff and put the last Web on top of the other.
Ninja Tabi
Y10 Serrated Edge
PASSIVE - For every non-ultimate ability on cooldown you gain a stack of Cruelty. Each stack provides 7 Physical Power and 2% Physical Lifesteal.
OLD Stone Cutting Sword
PASSIVE - Melee Basic Attacks decreases enemy Physical protections by 7, and increase your physical protection by 5 for 3s (max. 2 Stacks).
Shield of Regrowth (Deprecated)
PASSIVE - After healing yourself from an ability, you gain 30% movement speed, 15 Physical Power, and 30 Magical Power for 4 seconds. This cannot occur more than once every 10 seconds.
The Executioner
PASSIVE - Basic Attacks against an enemy reduce your target's Physical Protection by 7% for 3 seconds (max. 4 Stacks).
Qin's Sais
PASSIVE - On Basic Attack hits, deal Physical Damage equal to 1.5% of the target's maximum Health. If the target has over 2000 Health, the bonus damage scales up. This effect reaches a maximum of 6% of the targets Maximum Health at 2750 Health.
Ninja Tabi - The attack speed is really gonna come in handy until you can buy Qins or Executioner later on. The extra mana really helps in the early game.
Serrated Edge - Since Arachne has no dash/leap, you're really going to want to make the most out of your Movement Speed. This sword is one of the few items left that gives you +10% Movement Speed plus the other stats are really great, some Lifesteal to help you sustain along with your Venomous Bite. Since you want to all-in on people by using all your 3 abilities at once, the passive is really easy to proc, and it'll help you take down your targets quicker. Even after the upcoming update to the item, where the extra Physical Power and Lifesteal depends on how many of your skills are on cooldown, you'll be able to sustain on minions more easily without having to use your Cocoon on them.
Stone Cutting Sword - With this idea in mind to have as much Movement Speed as you need, this is what you want to buy. A really good amount of Physical Power, +7% Movement Speed (down from +10% a few patches ago), and the passive is gonna help you shred through Physical Protections as well as giving you some extra Physical Protections to box with your direct opponents.
Shield of Regrowth - Now comes a defensive option, which I really like to go to since I don't really like 100% glasscannon builds. This shield is not so expensive and will give you some great HP5 and MP5, a little bit of Cooldown Reduction (which you don't need at all on Arachne since you want to kill one guy with one use of your complete kit, and then on to the next guy), and +300 Health that'll help you against both Physical and Magical Damage. Now I love the passive on the item : +40% Movement Speed is a HUGE boost on Arachne. You can use it in various scenarios : the most common, use your Venomous Bite on someone, take a few steps away, watch them panic, use some stuff on top of them where they assume you'd be but you aren't, then walk back in once the way is clear and you feel like you can kill your target as fast as possible ; when being chased, you can just hit an enemy minion, a jungle camp or the Wild Juggernaut to gain some extra Movement Speed to run away.
The Executioner - Now since Arachne's a basic attack character, you're definitely gonna need Attack Speed. This weird-looking axe is gonna give you +25%, as well as Physical Protection reductions (it has been nerfed in the past but is still good) and some Physical Power. At this point, once you've stunned someone with your Cocoon, he's gonna have 3 stacks of The Executioner and Stone Cutting Sword and he's gonna be a free kill, even if he's got some Physical Protections in his build.
Qin's Sais - When you feel like you need more Attack Speed, go for this. It used to give +15% but now it really challenges The Executioner with its +20%. Buy this if you struggle to take down enemy tanks (and have to, of course you're not gonna focus them in the first place), or if the enemy mages have Warlock's Staff, Soul Gem or any other Health item. Against gods with 2000 Health and less, Qin's Sais is gonna deal 60 extra damage per auto-attack, and it'll go up to 137 extra damage to gods with 2750 Health and above.

Don't forget to replace your boots once you get the elixir of speed.
Y10 Bloodforge
PASSIVE - Killing an enemy god forges a shield from their blood with Health equal to 200 + 10 per Player Level for 20s. While the Blood Shield is active you gain +10% movement speed.
Y10 Asi
PASSIVE - While below 60% Health, you gain an additional 15% Physical Lifesteal for 5 seconds. Can only occur once every 15 seconds.
Bloodforge - For when you feel really comfortable in the game, as a 6th item, when the game lasts for half an hour and more, this'll help you go on killing sprees with the extra Movement Speed and the Health shield it provides on takedown (lasts for up to 20 seconds).
Asi - If you lack some Attack Speed for some reason, this item has lots of things you need : Attack Speed, Penetration, some Lifesteal that can help you survive and take down an opponent before they kill you, when you drop below 35% Health.
Magi's Cloak
PASSIVE - Protects you from a single hard Crowd Control effect once every 70 seconds. When this occurs, you gain 1s of Crowd Control immunity.
Mantle of Discord
PASSIVE - If you take damage below 40% health you unleash a shockwave that stuns all enemies within a range of 20 units for 1s and become immune to Crowd Control for 1s. This effect cannot trigger more than once every 110s.
Winged Blade - Feels a bit redundant with Arachne's slow immunity on her Web but overall a really strong item, even with the bonus Movement Speed going down to +7% from +10%, when you have a hard time dealing with a Nemesis or a mage with a Gem of Isolation. 1850 Gold for 300 Health and the passive is a really good choice : slow immunity and +20% Movement Speed, you're basically untouchable.
Toxic Blade - You can't really proc brawlers efficiently on Arachne, and the stats on this blade are all useful for her. A strong anti heal item (even with only 2 max stacks down from 3 in the past) without compromising your damage output so much. And some Movement Speed.
Magi's Cloak - When sometimes an enemy's CC is giving you a hard time, just buy this and walk right through it. It's available every 1 min 10, along with your 2 min 10 beads, you're gonna be fine. Another item with 300 Health for only 2150 Gold.
Mantle of Discord - Hands down the best defensive item in the game in my opinion, if you had to buy one single defensive item each game, buy this one, no matter the god you're playing or what there is against you. Some really good protections on it that makes up for the lack of Health, and an extra +10% Cooldown reduction. The passive can either give you time to press your ulti and walk away, give you enough time to turn on the guy trying to assasinate you (especially Loki, be careful though if he procs it with his ult, he's gonna be CC immune and you're gonna die anyway), or give you an extra second in a 1v1 fight to have the edge on your opponent.
Frostbound Hammer - It's not really necessary considering you don't have trouble to lock people down with her kit and your build, but if you're having a hard time against someone (a King Arthur for instance, a Tyr, or some other Warrior), you can buy that. It's another 300 Health. It can be really strong in the late game to box the enemy Hunter, because it slows down their Attack Speed. And it helps your team follow up more easily on the guy your hunting down : in general, you're really fast and chasing enemies down but that means they can still run to their towers and/or allies to get some help, with Frostbound Hammer they won't have this option, and your teammates are more likely to give you some help.
Level up Night Crawler everytime it's available, the cooldown is shorter at every level.
Max Venomous Bite first, and then it's up to you to decide which skill to level up next : Cocoon for a longer stun or Web for a longer slow.
Fortunately your Web gives you vision of enemies as soon as they're hit, and you keep it when they go invisible. Well you probably know that if you're playing Arachne, but it's good to remember because for some reason some opponents don't seem to be aware of that and you can just abuse it. Don't forget thought that it doesn't give vision to your allies (and not gonna lie it's hard for me to acknowledge that when I'm playing), so keep an eye on them and don't flame them if they act like they didn't see them, because they didn't.
I can't really think of gods you don't really want to play against, but Ne Zha is definitely one of them. He can just use his Universe Ring Toss on your spiders and gain up to +40% Movement Speed. Luckily you're still immune to his slow. But it might have killed your broodlings. Even if they're still alive he's got an AoE on his 4th auto-attack.
On top of that, if you finally caught him, he can just deny your Cocoon and Wind Fire Wheels you at point blank. Upon landing, you're gonna be as good as dead.
Ravana and Susano can be a real pain in the ass to deal with, sometimes you just can't hit your Venomous Bite and Cocoon because they hit you from close range and/or don't let you get close enough, you're basically a free kill for them. Typically 10-Hand Shadow Fist, Prana Onslaught is fine because you're supposedly slow immune ; Storm Kata's first and second stage hits you from too far, Wind Siphon aswell, it pulls you in but is often followed with the Typhoon which just locks you in place.
Tsukuyomi just kites (everyoby) from so far away and hits like a truck, and when you eventually get close to him, he's just got a disarm followed by a stun with Kusarigama, so you can't even hit him at any point. And if it's on cooldown, he can use Piercing Moonlight and you still can't hit him while he dashes and kills you.
When fighting Nemesis, remember to only use your Cocoon once she's used her Retribution. You're gonna remove it when you stun her. In general be careful, she can steal up to 21% of your Physical Power so it's gonna be a tough one.
