Hello All, This will be my first guide for any god so bear with me. Anubis was the first god I brought to a diamond level. Hopefully this guide will help you have fun with Anubis rather than just running into the team fights and dying. The key things to know about Anubis are - he's slow, two of his abilities make you stand in one place, and he is capable of doing a ton of damage when played correctly. In this guide I will show you how to get the most out of his damage while hopefully staying out of trouble.
Y10 Talon Trinket
Healing Potion
This consumable heals 250 Health over 25 seconds.
Mana Potion
This consumable heals 150 Mana over 25 seconds.
Y10 Bancroft's Talon
PASSIVE - You gain additional Magical Power and Lifesteal scaled from missing Health. This caps at 70 power and 10% Lifesteal at 40% Health.
Shoes of Focus
Rod of Tahuti
PASSIVE - Basic Attacks and Abilities gain 15% additional Magical Power against targets below 60% Health.
Spear of Desolation
PASSIVE - If you receive a kill or assist on an Enemy God all of your non-ultimate cooldowns are reduced by 2 seconds and your ultimate cooldown is reduced by 6 seconds.
Evolved Charon's Coin
PASSIVE - On god kill or assist a coin is flipped. If heads, you gain 150 Health over 6 seconds. If tails, you gain 5% Movement Speed for 6 seconds. You also gain 15 gold every time the coin is flipped.
This is my primary main build but I will swap out building Charon's Coin to build whatever I feel is necessary to finish off the most annoying player on the other team. The reason for placing Charon's Coin here is Anubis' movement is dreadful. If you are not careful you will be picked apart and have zero fun. Charon's Coin offers you some additional movement speed which Anubis will benefit greatly from while also giving you that Magical Penetration that makes the other team squeal as you use your ultimate.
Chronos' Pendant
PASSIVE - Every 10s the Pendant activates, subtracting 1s from all of your abilities currently on Cooldown. The initial countdown will not start until you leave the fountain.
S9 Divine Ruin
PASSIVE - Enemies hit by your abilities have 40% reduced healing for 5 seconds.
Soul Reaver
PASSIVE - Your abilities deal an additional 1% of the target's maximum Health as Magical Damage. If the target has over 2000 Health, your ability bonus damage scales up. This effect reaches a maximum of 9% Maximum Health damage at 2750 Health. Subsequent hits on the same target do half the bonus damage for the next 3s.
Y10 Typhon's Fang
PASSIVE - Your Healing obtained from Magical Lifesteal is increased by 15%. Your Magical power is increased by 1.5x the amount of Magical Lifesteal you have.
Chrono's Pendant is just a very solid mage item that offers cooldown, magical power, and mana. Divine Ruin is a solid pick if you are going up against a healing/lifesteal heavy team. Soul Reaver is your tank shred item. If the opposing team's tank is feeling very saucy, charging your entire team, and sticking around this is the item you want. With Soul Reaver you can mummify, drop your grasping hands, and ultimate to either bring the tank down to 1 HP or even finish him off with a single combo. Typhon's Fang used to be the way to go with Anubis due to his passive (Lifesteal Boost) and the fact that Typhon's fang increases your power based of lifesteal. I have started to move away from this item however as the recent season 8 changes have nerfed lifesteal and increased the power of Anti-Heal.
You should consider these items when the other team is just jumping to you and focusing you in every team fight.
Y10 Warlock's Staff
PASSIVE - You permanently gain +1 Health and +0.6 Magical Power per Stack, and receive 5 Stacks for a god kill and 1 Stack per minion kill. At 75 stacks this item Evolves, gaining 10% Magical Penetration and 25 Health.
Breastplate of Valor
Traveler's Cloak
Celestial Legion Helm
PASSIVE - Every 3s you receive a stack of 7 Physical Protection and 4% Reduced Damage from Physical Critical Strikes, up to a max of 5 stacks. Stacks are removed upon taking Physical Damage from gods. Stacks can only be gained after not taking Physical Damage from gods for 3s.
Build your grasping hands first. This is your primary wave clear and jungle farming tool (also laying this thing under someone when you after building just two items and they will begin to think WOW that's starting to really hurt). Mummify should be leveled last as this is just a tool to set up plays and the increased stun duration you get from leveling it up is less valuable then your damaging abilities.
Anubis is good against gods who lack movement abilities and movement speed. If you know who you are up against and their kit you are usually in a good place.
Gods who have kits that offer controllable movement abilities (dashes, etc) or extreme range can be troublesome for Anubis. Like I said before its important to know who you are going up against and what they are capable of so that you can counter.
A lot of the people I see play Anubis like to rush in from the start and try to lay down the damage. This in my opinion is not the proper way to play Anubis as two of his abilities make you a standing target. Anubis gets a huge power surge when Bancroft's Talon and Boots of Focus. Your job as Anubis is to stay alive until you get those two items so sit back, relax, and clear waves. Once you get the two items mentioned above you can start to pressure the opponent using your mummify, grasping hands, and even plague if you get close enough. If you can get the Bancroft's and the Boots then the first kill you are off to the races. Anubis is a super fun character who if he gets going early will throw down with the best of them.
